Anapod Reinitializer

Overview

Anapod Reinitializer is a standalone utility that helps you to reformat and reinitialize iPods for use on Windows. We developed it as a useful tool for our Anapod Explorer users, but are making it freely available to the general public as well.

Reformat and Reinitialize Your iPod

To reformat and reinitialize your iPod, simply run Anapod Reinitializer, choose your iPod's drive letter, and it guides you through the process of restoring your iPod to a clean, blank state, ready for loading music. Please note, however, that Anapod Reinitializer does not perform firmware updates on your iPod. You still need to use the Apple iPod Updater to do this when Apple releases new firmware releases.

Using iPod on Windows 98 and ME

If you are running Windows 98 or ME, you know that none of Apple's iPod software runs on these versions of Windows. Using Anapod Reinitializer, you can reformat your iPod on Windows 98/ME, and then use our Anapod Explorer product to transfer and manage your music.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a brand new iPod that has never been connected to a computer before, Anapod Reinitializer may not, on its own, be able to fully set up your iPod. If you run the Reinitializer on a brand-new iPod and the iPod shows a folder-with-exclamation-point icon when you unplug it from the computer, that means it is not fully set up. You will need to find a friend with a Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer where you can run the Apple Updater at least once to get your iPod configured for the first time. Thereafter, you should be able to use both Anapod Reinitializer and Anapod Explorer to enjoy your iPod on your own Windows 98 and ME computer.
